Weaving a net with no trees

This project was borne out of the client's desire to have a play structure for kids but the problem was that he didn’t have any trees big enough for a net on his property. I pitched the idea of anchoring upcycled phone poles into the ground instead that we could then weave between. He had his landscaping team install them so that when we arrived, we were confronted with an array of these phone poles ready to be woven. This was also the first time I used modeling software beforehand to plan the net which is how we landed on the layout of the poles.

I hired my cousin to help me and over the course of 8 long weaving days, we were able to complete it from start to finish. We designed the layout to allow for kids to access the top in two ways; one via 3 connected platforms on the right, and the other via a spiral ramp on the left.

For more on the design/build process, you can find a video I made here.
